Evaluation Of Effect Of Drilling Fluids On Wellbore Stability

Wellbore stability evaluation is one of the important applications rock mechanics and should be regarded to prevent instabilities that may develop in wells for various reasons (such as complex field conditions, interaction between drilling fluid, directional etc.). The saturation rocks by fluids causes significant changes on mechanical properties rocks. However level these variations changed due fluid compositions. In this study, effect wellbore was examined different well profiles. order assess wellbores, three compositions (bentonite, KCl polymer based muds) were considered. results assessment suggested bentonite create adverse critical fracture collapse pressures. pressure values determined a result are close those obtained dry condition. It also stated range mud ensuring significantly affected variation pressures calculated under saturation.
